Steel Frames

On the first day back at school , we had to head down to the bottom to assemble the shipping containers. As we were loosing the screws & blots out of the shipping containers we could feel & see the containers swaying side to side. So we had people standing on either side of the containers getting prepared to grab the steel frames. After we assembled the frames from each other we walked them up to the top & stacked them into the shipping container. 

Tuesday

On Tuesday I had tagged out moerewa , if you don't know what tagged is its basically the same thing as rippa rugby.  We were competing against Okaihau college the whole day. Since there was only one team to compete against we all came together and did some training. After bonding & training together we splinted up into our school teams & had a game. During the game I could tell the other team didn't have that much experience as our team , so I decided to jump on the other & helped them. As the ref called Halftime we all decided as a team we would spilt up & make the teams even. After a long exhausting game we were all tired & hungry so we shot up to kaikohe & got some maccas & headed back to school. 

As we got back to school I headed back to class to see if my class mates needed a hand on whatever they were doing. Sir told us to grab some gloves & head down the bottom , were gonna be lifting those walls & stuff into the garage to get them out of that way & make down the bottom much more cleaner. As we were lifting & bringing the stuff over to the garage some of the others boys were setting up the shelf inside the garage. When the boys finished putting the shelf together they gave us the all clear to start bringing the stuff into the garage. As time was going past the more we were rushing the job at hand. As we loaded the shelf up with the walls & that we began to start packing up to leave. Just before we were leaving the whole shelf broke apart & collapsed. By that happening I learnt we should've started the job earlier instead of rushing. 

Working on site & MPA

 This week Monday I went out on site up in Kerikeri with the Wha-out builders , my job was to help where ever they needed help. My favourite part about the day was smoko , having some   On Tuesday I had Maori performing arts all day practising and learning how to do tititoria. 

  

This week I've been working on how to set up to do a foot path. There was a group of us doing the footpath & My main job was to clear the path & level it out. After I finished clearing the path & levelling it out , we grab some pegs & put them into the ground so we could box it up. I realise for next time we should grab a wheel borrow & chuck the dirt into there , instead of chucking it on the side in the way & wasting time picking it up later on.

We are a class of Year 12 & 13 students doing Building Academy. One Day a week , I get to go out on site  & get work experience , I'm currently getting work experience with Wha-out builders & I'm really enjoying it. This is my first year at Bay of Island college & For the first term I’m really happy with my decision to join the building academy & it makes me feel like I should have joined earlier. I have learnt a lot since I've been here- & I’m looking forward to learning & gaining more experience.
